How Long Is CDL Training?
This is one of the most common CDL training questions we are asked. Each state is responsible for regulating the requirements in order to obtain a Class A CDL. Some states set specific guidelines for how long training should last and how many hours of classroom and on the road instruction should be included in the CDL training curriculum. Other states do not set such guidelines and allow the truck driver training schools themselves determine the appropriate length of training.
This is where you want to be careful in selecting a CDL training school. Any school that tells you they can get you on the road and driving in a week or less is a not being truthful with you, and does not have any relationships with the Motor Carriers who regularly hire new Student Drivers. Truck drivers who graduate from these types of truck driver training schools are often a danger to both themselves and to the other drivers on the road.
Job Placement is the primary reason that you are considering getting started as a professional truck driver. CDLtrainingtoday.com only works with Schools that offer outstanding hands on training with late model equipment, are approved by State and Federal authorities and have a full time Job Placement Department. In fact, no School in the CDTtrainingtoday.com network will enroll a new driver trainee unless they can be pre-hired upfront by a Major National trucking company.
Most CDL training programs from certified and reputable truck driver training schools last about 3-12 weeks, depending on the program. Some programs are full time allowing you to complete your training as fast as possible. Others have evening and weekend-only classes that take a little longer to complete.
Regardless of your scheduling situation, our CDL training programs are designed to be as flexible as possible while still getting you on the road as a truck driver as soon as possible.
